January 12, 2010

Today is the 2 year anniversary of the massive Haiti earthquake that had changed Carson's life forever.  He was just 5 1/2 weeks old at that time, and was brought to the orphanage on January 16, 2010.   However, even the orphanage became unlivable by the erthquake and the children and nannies were living in the streets for many months.  God's Children Adoption Agency, Inc in Fergus Falls, MN found this orphanage through a series of connections (and miracles) and agreed to sponsor them.  With the help of generous donors, they helped the orphanage director and his wife find a new home (orphanage), purchase a generator, purchase a truck, and provided many supplies for the nannies and children.

This link is for the video remake of We Are the World.  It was recorded in February 2010 in the same studio that the original We Are the World video was recorded in, now 27 years ago.  The people of Haiti have so little and yet the children can still smile!

In case you were curious about the original video, I've included a link for that one too.  When Cali saw the original, she said, "Wow, big hair!"  Yes, my child, that was the 80s and your mama had big hair too!  Enjoy!

No news on the adoption front yet...

Sincerely,

  1. Elizabeth - I can likely dig up some 'big' hair pictures for Cali! Matthew and I just watched the We Are the Worlds...he was enthralled and knew who Carson was when I went back to the blog. He said "When Carson come here to my house?" I said "hopefully soon, hopefully soon." Hugs, Kristin
